Ford KA (1.8t Quattro)

Ford KA 1.8T 20v 1.8L G25-550 MaxxECU GEN2 Race

Build Overview

We recently had this Ford KA in for a complete Club sport chassis and engine wiring package, built around a MaxxECU GEN2 Race ECU, PDM20, ECUMaster ADU7 display and Cartek isolator.

A full electronics package, supplied, designed and installed by us.

The MaxxECU PDM20 integrates directly into MTune, keeping the entire system under one roof. There’s no need to jump between different software packages or build complex CAN messaging just to get the PDM communicating with the ECU — it’s all natively integrated within the MaxxECU ecosystem.
We’re also using a 15-button CAN keypad to control both PDM outputs and internal ECU functions. Something that can be more difficult if you were to use different brands of ECU and PDMs.

For the engine loom, we’ve used a 61-way bulkhead quick-release connector, allowing the complete engine harness to be disconnected and reconnected quickly and cleanly. On a car this tightly packaged, that makes a huge difference, as most major engine work involves removing the engine simply due to the lack of available space.

It’s a seriously compact build with a lot packed into it, and we’re really pleased with how the electronics package has come together.

Next up is tuning, we’re looking forward to seeing what this little KA can do when it hits the track.
